Martinez, real name Martin Swanstein, was born in 1981 and raised in the southernmost part of Sweden. At quite early age he discovered techno and later house music and since he already played keys, guitar, and flute it was a natural development to start to produce dance music on his computer. He also got himself a pair of turntables and started to hunt records. At this time Martin was to young to attend the clubs, instead he arranged his own house parties on the beach, often with himself as DJ.

Some years later, via a demo tape Martin got a chance to develop his producer skills in the Wrong Steps studio in Stockholm, where he co-produced some of his own tracks together with French producer Manuel Perez. Since Martin at this time still went to school the work had to be scheduled to the holidays. One of these early tracks later appeared as "Late Night Groove" on Martins debut twelve on Swedish label Deeplay Music.

In 2000 Martinez moved from the small Swedish town to the much more open music climate in the Danish capital Copenhagen. This supported him to put even more time and energy in his music productions and not long after he landed a record deal with the well reputed Guidance label in Chicago. First out was the "Laidback Grooves EP" with it's mix of deephouse and broken beats and so far he's been releasing three twelve's on Guidance. As mentioned above Martinez debut twelve was released on Deeplay Music and he's also made some wonderful remixes for the Physics duo on the same label. Especially his "Aquarium Dub Mix" on "Don't Deny Me Love" was a great success among audience, DJ's, and reviewers around the world. Other remix work include Danish pop act Filur, Dalminjo, The beard, Holmes ft. Dragonfly and Spiro Projecto. His tracks also appear on various house, broken beat and chillout compilations. Martinez music is created to suit both the dance floor and the fastidious home listener with it's mix of various genres of music into one piece. He gets his musical inspirations from all kinds of styles and in his compositions you'll hear elements of jazz, funk, dub, drum 'n' bass, nujazz, and various native- or world music.

Martinez great deck skills and impeccable taste has given him a strong DJ reputation and he's often seen in the booth in various quality clubs and parties in Denmark and Sweden where he's been supporting among others Aqua Bassino and DJ Spinna. On his 18:th birthday he played at the big closing party for the Stockholm Film Festival alongside hot-shot DJ:s like Jori Hulkkonen, Elegia and Llorca. He also played at the Roskilde festival in 2002 and at Ben Watts Cherry Jam in London. Swedish and Danish national radio and Radio Nova in Paris has broadcast his journeys on the wheels of steel.

San Francisco's Hector Moralez a.k.a. Bridges of Fries & Bridges is perhaps as well known for his love and passion for house music as he is for his raw, pulsing grooves. As one half of the world-renowned production duo Fries and Bridges, this DJ/Producer/Remixer has made a definite mark over the last 8 years.

A chance meeting with French DJ/Producer Phil Weeks after Hector's October 2000 set at Paris's legendary Rex Club led to the formation of Fries & Bridges. Their musical partnership has yielded a special stylistic synthesis - Hector's trademark West Coast groove fuses with a twist of French funk.

This international mash-up of sounds has earned chart placements from DJ's as diverse as Roger Sanchez, Doc Martin, and Derrick Carter. Tango Recordings' Tony Hewitt and Classic Records' Diz have both named Hector an important name to watch.

Hector's first release with Phil Weeks, Robsoul Recordings' "Time to Yourself", was featured on a live mix CD by John Marsh of the Beloved for London's Fabric night club. His releases since have come out on some of the worlds best-known House music imprints, including London's Music For Freaks and Offset Music, France's Robsoul Recordings and Brique Rouge, Chicago's Vista Recordings, California's Nightshift and Primal Records, as well as Hector's own Minority Music label.

Hector currently divides his time between Paris and his San Francisco home, producing music, spinning records, and running his fledgling record label.

Matthew Bandy has been performing for the past 9 years while residing in Lexington, KY, an area that has never been considered a source for electronic music. As a DJ, producer, and live performer his talent has taken him coast to coast and literally everywhere in between. As a producer and live act Matthew created the moniker of “Deep House Souldiers” with partner and friend Joel Jackson. He currently has releases on San Francisco’s Lo Rise Recordings, England’s Offset Music, Adam Jay’s Azure records as well as his own Limestone Recordings. His tracks have been remixed by some of house music’s most respectable producers such as Chris Lum, Rick Preston and Community Recordings. While expressing his deepest emotions and concepts Matthew’s music is usually referred to as deep, soulful, and groovy house. He doesn’t always write music to be understood on the dance floor but always has a listener in mind. Describing Matthew’s style as a DJ can be done with two words, music that has concept and soul. He is known most for his smooth 10-minute mixes, jazzy, percussive track selection and, when able, incorporating live elements into his sets such as Rhodes, trumpet, and percussion.

Paul Johnston's first experience of music was hearing the likes of Klaus Schulze and Kraftwerk whilst in the womb. He still blames his mother for thus instilling in him both an unshakeable faith in technology and a fondness for arch conceptualism. The former led to ultimate disappointment in that, by the year 2001, we still did not have a regular bus service to the moon. The latter led to an inability to take anything particularly seriously. These two factors inevitably shaped the musical weltanschauung of young Paul and can largely be blamed for his subsequent direction in life. His first attempt at DJ-ing was as a toddler, the result of which was permanent damage to an album by one of the aforementioned artists. The ensuing parental admonishment discouraged Paul from returning to the wheels of steel for a further 20 years. After a successful period of anti-aversion therapy, he can now touch vinyl without subconscious fear of retribution. Following an academically successful yet financially comprimising foray into the world of higher education, Paul returned to his hometown of Nottingham, a quoted academic with not a penny to his name. It was there that he discovered deep house through the fortuitous attendance of various DiY club nights and parties. Adopting his "superhero name" of Peej, mild-mannered Paul transformed himself by night into a morally ambiguous party anti-hero and, suitably educated, began making house tunes. The first tracks he completed were handed to DiY and subsequently comprised his first EP, "Do It" (DiY Discs, 2002). With further releases on DiY discs (the "Rhizomatic Encounters" EP in 2003 and a couple of remixes), Paul has since busied himself writing for well-respected music magazine "Keep On", along with regular DJ-ing and making a general nuisance of himself on the Nottingham party / club scene, and occasionally abroad. In 2005, he has numerous releases and remixes already lined up on DiY Discs, Diversions and Reverberations, and promises "big things" from his new production partnership with fellow Nottingham DJ / producer Fran Green under the name Midnight Candymen. He hopes that his music will help align the planets and allow meaningful communication between all forms of life. His favourite colour is olive green and he is allergic to cats. He sometimes forgets this and strokes them, with disastrous consequences.

Jonn Hawley and Heather Doble (AKA Sound Navigators) began DJing and producing together after being introduced by mutual friend, vocalist Javante Monet. Hailing from Milwaukee and Chicago respectively, Jonn and Heather's mutual drive and passion to create music has forged a unique partnership that is truly taking the dance music industry by storm. Despite growing up in different states, the two Navigators share very similar backgrounds in music and dance. While Jonn grew up break-dancing in clubs around Milwaukee and Chicago, Heather spent most of her younger years formally practicing ballet. Both Heather and Jonn suffered injuries that ended their days of dancing. However, both have chosen to take their passion for music and use it to make others dance through their DJing and productions. Jonn and Heather began DJing independently of one another over a decade ago. After DJing together for the first time at Eve in Milwaukee, Jonn and Heather both realized that their individual styles complimented one another in a way that grabbed the audience's attention. Soon after, the two took their love of house music into the studio and began to produce together. Working together at Foundation 75 Studios, the Navigator's first collaboration, "Salsaholic" quickly saw chart action amongst some of the industry's most notable DJs and producers. When asked what makes their partnership successful, the two agree that it is their common drive toward the same goal, passion for music and individual abilities that make this unique partnership work. After working together for several years the duo's first official single, "The Vibe" was released on Olive Records. "The Vibe" was an instant success with a glowing review in URB Magazine and continuous play by such house legends as Derrick Carter and Mark Farina. Since the release of "The Vibe" the two have enjoyed successful releases on various house labels like, Blockhead, 3AM Recordings, DAE and the newly created Jackin' Tracks. Both Jonn and Heather agree that they feel extremely fortunate to be able to have success doing something they love. Along with DJing and producing together, Jonn and Heather have teamed up with Don Tinsley (Urban Jazz Naturals) to create record label Soul Fuel Recordings. Soul Fuel is the brain child of Jonn Hawley, who quickly added Doble and Tinsley to the project. The Soul Fuel team's goal is to offer dance music producers, musicians and vocalists a professional, respectable label to facilitate the exhibition of their art. As is always the case, it's difficult to say exactly what's next for the Navigators. But without doubt one thing remains clear: Jonn and Heather are and will always be dedicated to their common goal of bringing new and exciting sounds into the world of house music.

Despite the Lawnchair Generals mind-bending success as producers, they are quick to admit that they are DJs above all else. In addition to their gigs in Seattle and beyond, they had, until recently, each hosted regular radio shows on the acclaimed Groovetech. In 2003 LCG embarked on a US road tour with The East Coast Boogiemen, possibly the first of its kind. The four DJ’s played on 4 decks across the US and by driving the 8000 miles brought their unique style and taste to many cities that may otherwise have missed out on the party. Carlos and Peter agree that the relationship between their production and DJ’ing is symbiotic. “We are uninspired to produce music if we’re not playing records,” they agree. “We like making tracks that we would enjoy playing. We try our best to make palatable records and still push the envelope a bit.” The common theme running throughout their releases and DJ sets is a straight up kind of funk. This is true dance floor candy wrapped in the neat package of quality house music, much of which has been lost along the genre’s journey to popularity. Even the dubbed down, sexier tracks possess an uncanny energy and groove – an original, dance-able sensation of sonic pleasure.

The slogan on his business card reads "Better Friends Through Music Since 1979." There could not be a more appropriate motto for this twenty-three year old prodigy of the sonic sort. To his credit are nearly twenty productions and remixes on labels including Aja, Beau Monde, Fiji, Terraform and Tweekin. This spring will mark a milestone in his young career as Music Fiction, his first full-length, is released on the illustrious Om Records, the label that Rithma lovingly refers to as "home".
Born Etienne Stehelin, Rithma was raised and continues to reside in Topanga Canyon, a small, rural community outside the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. His mother was a musician in the sixties and seventies, performing in front of thousands at the Grand Hotel. From her, the young Etienne learned the piano and picked up on singing as well. He classifies his early influences as classic rock and roll, specifically citing groups like Led Zeppelin and Little Feet. Around the age of thirteen, Etienne began playing the guitar and, by sixteen, had his own rock band called Waffle. He fondly remembers gigs at the famed Whiskey and Roxy on Sunset Strip when his hair was longer and groupies flocked. In high school, Etienne obtained his first techno tapes from his friend and future partner Scott Findley; he would fall asleep to the music of Jason Blakemore, Jesse Brooks and the like. "I fell in love with the music long before I knew what it was about," he remembers. "I knew that it was what I had been looking for." He discovered raves in the mid-nineties, but unusually, instead of deciding to purchase turntables and begin playing records, he determined that he would make his own music. "I thought production was the only way to go," says Etienne.

Soon afterward, he sold his Volkswagen bug and, with his father's help, purchased his first keyboard. His next acquisition would be a sampler, eventually followed by one turntable with which he would mix records with his own productions; these first tapes were made under the moniker Rhythmic Mind. It was not until 1998 that he would direct serious attention to DJing. On an acid-infused hike in the wilderness, the name Rithma was born. Continuous solo studio experiments eventually prompted pressings of Rithma 001 and Rithma 002, the latter of which garnered some attention from New York's Under Cover Music Group (UCMG) and led to his first legitimate release in 2000, which he produced with Scott Findley. Since then, there have been numerous productions on the aforementioned labels and an accompanying DJing career that has taken him to many destinations in the Western United States as well as abroad to far off countries like Lithuania.

David Duriez is an alien in the world of French DJ's and producers. He is not really from Paris and he does not really make 'French sounding' music. He has developed his own sound, which is far from what people expect. David's music is House Music in its purest form: versatile and ahead of the times. It can be deep, slamming, banging or techno influenced; it doesn't make a difference. Repeatedly recognized for his top-ten lists and deemed the producer's producer, David Duriez transcends the boundaries of the industry, going a step beyond the banal and delivering the real deal. He is an underground house commando with a prowess for striking deep inside enemy lines.

David runs his own label Brique Rouge, which was created with Llorca (F communications), who is his partner for Les Maçons De La Musique. The label was conceived in 1999. The label has gained international recognition and acclaim. It is frequently featured in magazines, and the records are spun by a whole host of famous djs. Get the point, David is about one thing and one thing only : PURE HOUSE MUSIC!

Domenic Cappello a.ka Hutton Drive is the Sub Club's resident DJ . For over five years now Domenic and Harri have been sending the crowds crazy every Saturday at Subculture, one of Glasgow's most successful and premier underground house music nights.

Expect Domenic to play anything from a Soul City vocal classic, to a new Joe Claussell Spiritual Life test pressing, to the new Underground Resistance release. It is this sort of versatility and open mindedness that confronts us when we hear a Hutton Drive track. His influences come from the USA — Detroit techno and Chicago house. Music that has depth, feeling and soul.

D'lectable Music was launched at WMC 2004, where the "Taste of Chicago ep" (released on vinyl in July) debuted to mass approval at a beautiful day party at Miami's WhiteLaw Hotel. Six months and nearly five releases later, D'lectable has made a lasting impression in the hearts and minds of music lovers by featuring an unprecedented mix of artists and all styles of music. D'lectable Music escapes definition, except to say that it is purely House.
D'lectable is headed by Chicago's first lady of House, Lady D, who has been rocking clubs from Milwaukee to Moscow since 1995. Lady D is a member of the much-heralded SuperJane crew (Colette, Heather, Dayhota and D)-one of the crown jewels of the Chicago house community. But as stated by Epitonic.com, "The Chicago House scene would be incomplete without Lady D." She has played in every major House club in Chicago and has traveled extensively through North America and parts of Europe touring the club scene. She headlined "Angels & Robots" a tour for Mixer Magazine, For Love Only & Gravis Shoes with Slater Hogan. A former A&R for AfterHours Music, Lady D brought in projects and remixes from Full Intention, Derrick Carter, Gene Farris, Miguel Migs, Kaskade, J.T. Donaldson, Dan Curtin, The Pound Boys and Jamie Lewis to name a few. Lady D also produced the mix CD, "Naked Kaleidoscope", the best-selling CD on the AfterHours label and an instant classic. Lady D's spoken word vocals appear on such releases as "Making Love"/Body Music, "High Again"/Body Music (with Ron Carroll) and Demarkus Lewis' "I'm A Freak"/Vista, with more to come.

Also recognized in Billboard, iDJ, The Chicago Tribune, Venus, Velocity, Discoid, and URB; Lady D was featured as one of the 30 most influential women in dance music in DMA mag and most recently on the cover of UR magazine as one of Chicago's most influential women artists. XLR8R captured Lady D and her SuperJane sisters on their cover. They have also graced the pages of Spin together.

Along with label partner, accountant Steve Koutso, Lady D loves to promote past, present and future House music with D'lectable Music as the vehicle. The label has already worked with artists as diverse as Jamie Principle, E-Smoove, Ron Carroll, Mel Hammond, Glenn Underground, DJ V, Bear Who?, 8fatfat8, Mr. Livewire, Charles Matlock, Digital Dirtbath, Josh Collins and DJ Alena. Upcoming releases will feature the talents of Derrick Carter, Stacy Kidd, Mark Grant, Lego, Alland Byallo, Bloom, Justin Robertson, Archetype VII, Mr. EggGerm and more. D'lectable is becoming known as one of the hottest labels to emerge from Chicago in years.
2005 marks the 10 year anniversary of Lady D's career in the industry. D'lectable Music will celebrate this occasion with a summer tour, CD compilation and commemorative Ray Noland designed t-shirt. Look for "A Perfect 10" in July & August 2005.

Everyone knows a smart cocktail must be enjoyed slowly. The same is true for the smooth, sexy tunes of Slater Hogan. Like a good cocktail, his mixes are carefully measured with an ounce of soulful accapellas, a dash of lazy horns, a splash of bass lines that bounce and wiggle and finally garnished with groovin' bodies, drippin' with da funk.

Slater has taken this beautifully rare sound all over the Midwest and beyond. Since he dropped his first record, he has played with the likes of Junior Sanchez, Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Tricky, Paul Johnson and Carl Cox. He has maintained residencies in Chicago, Cincinnati and his hometown of Indianapolis.

"Playing records to crowds of people is like a release for me," explains Slater. "Everything that I feel, breathe and realize at that very moment can be expressed through my track selection."
